Here is the story of ours…

Charlotte Rescue Mission

After 81 years of successfully transforming lives in the name of Jesus Christ by serving people impacted by addiction, Charlotte Rescue Mission had a dream of expanding its program to give their graduates the opportunity to thrive, rather than just survive, in our community.

That’s when they turned to the beautiful 100-year-old building on their campus and imagined it could be more than just warehouse space. The problem was they lacked the resources to do more than dream and longed for the day they could make it a reality.

Community Matters

In 2017, Charlotte Rescue Mission was selected by Community Matters: Insurance Partners of Charlotte as their nonprofit partner of the year. After that year of meaningful fundraising and volunteer service, Community Matters had a dream of leaving a lasting legacy at Charlotte Rescue Mission that would impact the lives of graduates for generations to come. Their Steering Committee voted unanimously to fundraise and invest $1,000,000 in the 100-year-old building, turning it into Community Matters Cafe.

But this cafe is so much more than just a full-service restaurant and coffee shop…

Community Matters Cafe

By coming in for a great cup of coffee, enjoying a farm-to-table meal, or hosting your next business meeting in our fully appointed private meeting room, you are playing an important part in our program. Students in the six month Community Matters Cafe Life Skills Program tackle topics such as adhering to a schedule, financial responsibility, and healthy ways to cope with conflict and stress while managing their recovery.

When you visit our cafe, you are not only reinforcing the essential life skills our students are learning, but you are showing them that they have a community that believes in their future.
